How do you test your PH level in the alde system ?

Going to start testing the ph in the alde glycol.

So I think it should be between 7 - 8 ?

Use an antifreeze tester from an auto parts store ?

Use ph test strips ?

Use a multi meter ?
I don’t want to make a big deal out of this so cheap and simple works for me

There have been many attempts to sort out the "quality" of the glycol with the pH testers, test strips, etc. It seems the glycol is extremely stable for pH.

Most of the info we have on this is scattered across many threads, so you might have to do a little digging. This owner (Freespirit) has been there and back on various testers with his Alde.

The same owner sent a sample of his glycol (the "Truma Alde" type) into Rhomar, the company that actually makes the glycol.The link below goes to the results that Rhomar returned.

The important number is: the amount of "anticorrosion" chemicals still available in the glycol product where it lists "Inhibitors".

Very simple. Get an automotive ph test strip (paper) and dip it in the overflow tank (or suck a little fluid up into a syringe,) and soak the ph strip with a few drops. It should read about 10-11 ph, but you can also do a test on your bottle of new fluid you have on hand for topping off, for comparison. FOLLOW THE DIRECTION ON THE TEST STRIPS!

Simple, simple, simple with no over thinking. Aldi fluid should last the lifetime of the unit, with consistent use. It breaks down faster when you use it a few days a month or year.
