Portal Window Shade

Finally! A window shade (Portal Window Shade) for the port hole window! I have been absent from the forum for a few months and was so excited to see people discussing that LG finally had one and it is available in their on-line store. I hopped onto the online store and bought one right then. I love that cute round window, but spent all of last year rigging some sort of cover while camping that usually involved duct tape.
Can't wait to try it out. For those that already have one, how do you like it?

Jbug -- I just got mine in the mail yesterday and haven't tried it yet, but I dig it. \m/Beth, 2015 Toyota Tacoma (Ramblin' Rose), 2014 T@B S M@xx (ClemenT@B)

I've used paper plates too; no decorations though. A towel duct taped to the door worked fine as well
but a real shade is going to be nice. June; 2013 T@b "Fant@bulous"; 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee; one kayak and one bike -
Our T@B is still being fabricated, but we tried out the portal window shade at an RV show and it's fantastic. It looks great and worked perfectly. When "open" the window has "spokes" and it just looks cool. When shut - privacy!Larry and Judy. 2015 T@B S M@xx. Silver with black trim. Bell@. Towed by a 2005 Toyota Tacoma.

I'm installing mine this weekend! Glad to know you like the way it looks. Probably another thing that will attract camping neighbors who want to check out my ClemenT@B!!!

It gets the job done. It fits nicely and provides privacy. It seems a little pricy for the quality, but it's a specialty product and there aren't many alternative solutions, unless you're into paper plates and duct tape.

T@boo, I thought the same thing when it first arrived...a little pricey for plastic, but I had been looking for one since I realized I needed something at night and had no luck! Speciality products don't come cheap.June; 2013 T@b "Fant@bulous"; 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee; one kayak and one bike

LadyArtist, a custom creative art piece for the window isn't the same as a plain white paper plate, preferably used, with duct tape. Lol. Jbug10, I think mass production and wallyworld has lead me to expect everything to be cheap. I should also be clear, it works very well and looks better once placed over the window. And it's about 40 bucks. What should I expect given that they aren't making 10s of thousands of these things. It's a niche item.

Rzrbug, I think you have talent! First the hand-etched T@B name plate, and now this? Nice job.

Whoa! That is very cool. You should design and LG should sell those!

Thanks, folks, but as I said on another post, this is something that I repurposed. I didn't actually "make" it. Three cake boards glued together, then ground down with Dremel tool to fit the hole. Then pull cord/handle added with washers glued around the holes for reinforcement. Any time I'm in a store, I'm constantly looking for things that might be made to work in the T@B. Wait until you see the wine glass protectors I made from coffee cans.

You have my curiosity's attention. I see a T@B Crafting Competition in the future . . .

We ordered a "window shade" for our 2011 T@B from LG.(round door window) Great service but small problem. The shade is 10" in diameter--our window is 12" metal diameter and 11" rubber gasket diameter. It is too small. Are all the windows 10" ? The 2011 is the "transition" year from Dutchman to Little Guy and we have had several problems like this--stay away from the 2011 year model.
-
My 2015 is 10" from gasket to gasket.
Should be able to just cut some thin black plastic and tack/glue in and I bet it would look just fine. -
And a piece of cardboard cut in a circle used with Velcro blocks the light from he overhead vent.

Does anyone know why Teardrop shop isn't offering this anymore? I would love to get one.jbug10 said:Finally! A window shade (Portal Window Shade) for the port hole window! @dsatwork, a short answer is no. I do know they are still running at full speed getting everything up to speed and they have many things on their to-do lists. I've been taking a wait and see attitude and trying not to ask for very much right now.Verna, Columbus, IN
