re extra bed in tab 400 boondock

My tab has one double and a dinette single which just about fits my two young grandchildren. I have an awning so I could sleep in there with the kids inside. Just wondering if any of you modification experts have found a way to add a bunk or extend the dinette bed? I have to be mindful of the weight at the front as my tab has the front mount AC.

I have a 2018 400 which we made a foam insert which fills the gap when the middle dinette cushion is extended to the end of the table. We add a 2” foam topper which is cut to new larger bed size.  We have used this setup for our two grandsons for a couple of multiple night camping trips. When not in use the filler foam insert stores nicely behind the drivers side dinette cushion.

@DenisP that sounds like a great idea! We don't have any grandchildren yet, but there's one on the way so we need to plan!

Attached is a picture of the foam insert in place. I paid a visit to the Tab in storage and thought a picture might help.

I am going to see how I might expand the short side. You have got me thinking now.
