"Drop In" shut off valve for toilet

I think I remember seeing a member installing a shut off to the toilet supply line that simply screwed in between the fitting on the wall and the line.
I went to Lowe's but I couldn't figure out what to get. Can anyone enlighten me?

That could have been me... 1/2 compression to 3/8 , if I remember correctly. I prefer 1/4 torn stops.
