T@B keys

I discovered today at the RV dealer, that my T@B key works on other T@Bs and that the other T@B keys were the same as my keys. That is both the black door key and the silver galley key. 

We even used my T@B key to lock and unlock the Camplite on display next to the T@B. That is what is so totally strange! 

The service rep thought that I may have a "Master" key set. 

Do you guys know anything about this key situation? The keys have a series of numbers on them. I guess we could compare each of our key numbers. 

Can the door locks be re-keyed? Am I remembering a discussion about this some time ago? Maybe started in the LG forum. 

I am a very trusting person but would like to lock up T@B tight when traveling.

Is your galley key a "751"?

A 751 key is nearly universal to any RV external compartment. You could probably use it on nearly any RV on your dealer's lot for some compartment or other.

In fact, my S doesn't even have an external galley, and it still came with two 751 keys.

And some more info. Is your door key a "Global Link"? If so, there are only 50 different keys (G301-G350)

Also, you can get a replacement CAM lock for your galley that is the same as your door key. 1 less key!

Neil, I remember the deadbolt recall, and in fact, I have a copy of the NHTSA Safety Recall Notice if anyone wants a copy.  I made my dealer check my deadbolt before I took possession of T@B.  I know they thought I was nuts, but I even insisted they keep a copy and check every vehicle on their lot.  They just looked at me.

Thank goodness, my lock wasn't one of the affected deadbolts.  I also have the CH751 key, but I don't have an outside shower.  Neil, we'll have to check our keys at the Western Rally and see if my HF 341 key fits your lock. 

Now, why in the heck would they manufacture keys that fit everyone's locks?????  So we have to get new locks and spend more money?  Yeah, that's what me thinks.

Thanks for posting the pics!

Speaking of locks and keys, I'm locked out of T@BOO. I drove to the dealer this morning (1.5 hours away) to have them fix a brake issue. Been in and out of it all day as I drove around the area. Now back at home and the key will only go halfway in the lock (deadbolt one). So much for our inaugural trip this weekend. Short of drilling it out, anyone have any ideas?

I did try WD-40, wiggly jiggly, etc but no luck.

Not fixed yet. Local RV shop says they are booked till June lol. Ed says they will take care of any cost. Our inaugural trip starts tomorrow and we are headed west sorta past the place we bought if from. They said to bring it by first thing and they will see what they can do. Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead! Hope they can fix it!

Oh, Jeez!  I just read this discussion.  Now something else to worry about.  I see that my key is also an HF341.  On the bright side, If I ever lose my keys, easy to replace. )  BTW, my storage box is not keyed either.  Going to replace it sometime this summer with a metal one anyway.

Update: Beckley's was very accommodating. We dove in promptly at 8, went and had breakfast, browsed the RV supply store, and were soon back on the road with a new and functioning door lock.

I couldnt successfully download that recall, so I googled it... and it appears HF341 is NOT on the list... or did this download say otherwise?

I couldn't open the pdf file either.  Did I understand that other brands of travel trailers may have this key, besides the T@B, or was it compartments on different brands that shared keys?  So, if I'm camped close to another T@B, they are the only ones I have to keep my eye on, right? )

OK, got the file to open, and as Neil said, the HF341 is not on the list.  At any rate, the locks and doors were not intended for jailhouse use and could be easily compromised with a little effort.  Like most locks, they just keep honest people honest.

Guess what, Guys....I have yet another key to keep up with. The new accessory housing is the new one that locks. And it does not work well at all. Even the dealer had trouble with it. I don't understand why they selected this locking design. Even Richard had A WORD for this one.

Bummer, wish I knew about the 751, we would not have had to hunt down a salesman at Beckley's last week to take a look at the T@G's galley that they had sitting out.  Becky was actually very fascinated with it.

Yes. It's a push and pull physical challenge.
Ill need to find a couple of Mothers Little Helpers to deal with locks that will not open.
