First Camp

Our first camping trip was March 1-3 at Arches National Park. Sunny days with cold nights (max temp 50 degrees F/min low 20 degrees F). Camper still winterized of course. The park was not as busy as we expected but that will change in the coming weeks. FYI - All campsites in the park require reservations through November.

Heading to Moab next week to do the White Rim Trail & meeting friends there but without the T@B. Will be camping in the 2007 FJC. Looking forward to being back there before Jeep Week around Easter as it's a zoo there about that time.

Dumb question but how do you camp while still winterized if that means anti freeze in water tank?   Are you completely "dry" camping and not using plumbing at all?

@NorCalMike, I have to assume they are "dry camping". However, many owners use the blow out method, so they don't have rv antifreeze in the fresh water tank. Before the nautilus system, that was often the easiest  method to accomplish quick "dewinterization". A quick water fill, sanitation and flush is all that is necessary. No rv antifreeze to flush out of the system first.

In our case the all of the plumbing was still winterized. We hauled water inside for cooking, drinking and washing dishes but all the gray water was dumped at the campground's restroom utility sinks. At the time we made the reservation in early November we still had a popup truck camper. It's plumbing was limited to a water tank, water pump, a faucet and sink which drained right outside to a short hose and a 5 gal gray water container.

@ColoradoSun are y’all on the western slope? We’re seasoned Moab veterans but can’t figure out how to get in the spring w a trailer from the front range ... safely lol. Thinking about going down through NM and back up to avoid as many passes as we can 🤷‍♂️

We have a relatively easy route that avoids mountain passes by going through Montrose, Grand Junction and then west on I-70.

Ahh yeah... makes sense we lived in Telluride for a few years and definitely miss our 2.5 hour drives to the desert
