Securing a Generator

Does anyone have any advice as to how I should best attach this to the Boondock platform? Does it need to be waterproof or will a top cover work?

    For mine did:
+1+  Made a "L" shaped wood bracket to block/hold the forward-outer generator foot in place when the generator is pushed back towards vertical support. "L" is bolted to platform deck.
+2+  Use two ~24-inch  bungee straps with metal hook ends crossed over the generator. For bungee mount point near TaB body, drilled a hole into large tubing that supports platform so metal hook can attach.  Other end of bungee has hook body above the large platform holes with another small hole drilled into platform so metal hook tip come up, hook secure at the large hole.
+3+  A flex-cable bicycle lock is then run under generator handle and the large platform holes to lock

Have driven over some bad gravel & dirt desert roads with the above set-up and generation has not moved a bit.

Ratchet straps going through the platform holes and around the generator should work. Ratchet straps are a godsend.

The picture is out of date, presently use:

    1. Two 1 inch webbing ratchet straps run through the lightening holes in the aluminum tray.

    2. Garden hose abrasion protection around webbing where passes through holes.  Cut two 3" lengths and split lengthwise.  Keep a spare in the junk drawer.

    3. Cheap generic waterproof cover, held with ratchet strap laterally.

    4. Bicycle cable lock, through handles, through aluminum tray perimeter railing.  Visible deterrant.

    5. 8 ga. ground wire from genset lug to threaded lug bolted through steel frame.

    6. 5-gal.  unvented steel 'jerrycan' type gas can, stored in center tray bin next to propane tank. Secured with ratchet strap through handle, to eyebolt run through bin frame.

Used rubber base isolator pads below genset initially, but still too much noise and vibration in camper.  Except for a quick microwave lunch we unstrap it and place on ground, with deep rubbermaid bin over it for dew/rain protection (large hole around exhaust.)

Installed a Soft Start on the A/C during initial fit-out of camper, however numerous folks have said they don't need it unless at altitude.

This size genset cannot run the Alde 2kw heat setting, only 1kw which we found inadequate when our propane regulator/s seized up at altitude. (as has occurred to many others.)
