Haloview RD10 Wireless rear camera install 2022 Tab 400

I was able to add the Haloview RD10 rear camera to my 2022 TAB 400 Boondock without drilling into my trailer.

First, I had bought the camera after viewing a youtube video and before I took delivery of my new camper. The problem with this camera is that it was made for a longer trailer and had a separate transmitter. SO, it wasn’t installed with the thought being too much hassle and as I had it too long I couldn’t return it.

Then I bought the Type S camera, and it works well except for when you are moving. Its connection is Bluetooth and it cuts out or it takes too long to turn on. Also it stays on for a maximum of 60 seconds.

What I found was that I really like the rear camera to see who is behind me while driving. The solution was back to the Halo and revisit the installation.

The Haloview’s camera stays on since it runs off 10-32 volts and the monitor overlays on your rear-view mirror. Plus, it has a front camera and a mic on the rear camera.

Anyway, I mounted the camera on a rear camera bracket with small screws and mounted that assembly onto a new license plate holder. Then mounted that onto my trailer.

For power I didn’t want to fish a line from one of the lights or get an external battery for it which by the way is available.

The solution I used was the SAE port on the trailer which is 13 volts from the batteries. Using a fused link SAE extension with a gender adapter with a female socket and a 12-volt socket adapter. I now had power to the transmitter and camera

I ran the SAE line on the bottom track after removing the plastic thingy. Then cleaned up the cables with cable tie anchors.

For the transmitter I used heavy duty 3M dual faced tape and attached it in the back and kinda underneath.

The Frankenstein install works!! I just need to unplug the SAE cable when not in use. Down the road I’ll probably add a switch. Here is a list of parts that I used
