My wife and I have a 2021 320S Boondock, which we absolutely love. We will soon be retiring and our travel plans will be expanding. Until now, it’s been mostly 3-4 day long trips throughout the season. Once retired, we plan on taking extended month long trips, and will be adding a portable electric cooler (Dometic CFX3 25 or 35, or similar) to our mix of travel gear, using it as a freezer. We feel this will allow us to travel with more food options (chicken breasts, salmon… etc), which we can thaw as needed and make our meal options a little more like home.
With a freezer unit in play, we want to improve/expand the TAB fridge unit. We find the freezer element in the fridge somewhat pointless and would like to disconnect it or better still remove it entirely for increased fridge capacity. We are always surprised how much we can tuck into this fridge and if we can remove the freezer element, well that’s another bagged salad, Tupperware container, whatever…..
Can the freezer element be removed? Has anyone done this and would you offer direction, please? If not, can it be disconnected? I’m a pretty handy person, so not afraid to get in there, just don’t want to ‘cut the wrong wire’. Thanks!
