T@B Camping on the Florida Keys

Planning to head down to the Keys from New England in the end of March/early April for a couple weeks with our dog.  Any recommendations on campgrounds on the Keys that are pet friendly?  We’re hoping for something on the beach but don’t want to be unrealistic. Thank you.

We went to Sugarloaf Key (with our dogs) at Thanksgiving and stayed at the new KOA. It was gorgeous. Finding a beach that will allow dogs is a challenge, though. Sombrebo Beach at Marathon Key is popular and dog friendly. A lot of stuff might already be booked, though. Good luck!

@Hoogie69, you are targeting high season in the Keys.  It's not what is best, it's what you hope to maybe get.  We live in Florida and make our in state camping plans a year in advance.  Particularly in Snowbird season.

That being said the thread above holds true.  We have stayed at Boyd's, no problem getting a site in June.  Lots of space then but looks like it would be a wall to wall parking lot otherwise.

John Pennekamp SP is nice and we would stay again.  (Note, as I write this the next available reservation at Pennekamp is 5/15/23.)   We have visited  Bahia Honda and would love to stay there someday.  Curry Hammock looks nice as well.

My dog's favorite park was Long Key.  Sites are on the water but your dog is not allowed on the shoreline.  Bahia Honda and Pennekamp are also great.  Shade is key for dog camping in the Keys.
