We are towing our 2021 400 BD with a 2022 GMC Sierra 4x4. Anyone out there have this combination? What drop size hitch are you using? We are currently towing with a with a 2" drop hitch and the trailer seems to be a little low at the front.
I would measure the height of the hitch when attached to the tow vehicle, then open the hitch and jack it up until the trailer is level and measure the hitch height again. Use the difference between the loaded height and the level height to figure out how much higher than a 2" drop you need. I think it's better to measure with your own vehicle loaded as you would normally travel to determine the correct hitch drop.
Try a straight-through no-drop hitch and see if the trailer rides level. That setup works for our 2021 400 BD when hitched to our son’s 2020 Ford F150.
Ours was the OEM hitch for our VW Touareg. We gave it to my son when we bought a new truck to tow our trailer. The VW hitch put the trailer in just about the right position when used on his truck. His is a 2WD, so I guess doesn’t ride as high as most four-wheel-drive trucks.
As an aside, that VW hitch is far and away the most heavy-duty hitch I’ve ever encountered.
