Elwell Air8 - Discontinued?

Was just looking to share a link to info about the Air 8 with a friend, and noticed that all mention of it has been scrubbed from Elwell's website and the previous landing page now has a 404 error:

The rest of the Elwell site seems have been updated to indicate that they only sell heating products.

Obviously, very concerning for those of us with T@b models with an Air 8 installed. Anybody have any news on this?

@techietab I saw a thread of yours from last year-- with issues related to the Air8-- where you were trying to get one fixed under warranty, and had ordered a new one, etc.  Whatever happened with that?

I just got my new 320 a few months ago, so I'm also concerned about Elwell removing the Air8 from their site.  Hopefully something would retro-fit if that ever became an issue (sounds like there are some clones).

Wasn’t the Elwell a rebranded European product (can’t remember the manufacturer name)? Maybe something happened to their agreement. Best case scenario is the US distribution just got shifted to another company.

    Hi,

This (lack of info on the Air 8) has always made me more concered (in regards to replacement if/when a failure occurs) than any possible issues with the Alde.

In the past I have done a few searches for underseat RV ACs and this is the only one that usually  pops up.  It does look like a clone to the Air 8, but the dimension are slightly different It's also a heat pump.  The length may be an issue.

I emailed Ellwell this morning asking why the Air 8 is no longer on their website.  We'll see.

And given the likely footprint differences with venting and condensate lines, I'm sure a retro fit would be a big undertaking anyway.  Hopefully the Air8 continues to be manufactured and/or supported going forward.

    Hi,

Received this from Elwell on my inquire on their support of the Air8.

“We continue to sell and support the Air8 product. We just finished a new website, so it may be something that got missed in the transfer.

Are you needing support on your Air8 unit?”

Sorry for the late reply - traveling abroad at the moment.

The warranty was already expired, so I bought a new unit. However, a series of career and family-related circumstances then got in the way. I ended up not using my T@b during the warm season last year/have no plans to this year, so the new unit is still boxed up. Hoping to get around to installing it this summer.

Where did you order it? How much did it cost?  I think I may have to do the same thing. Mine stopped cooling to just a few degrees under outside temperature. Elwell said the 2022 model used in the Tab 320 is not serviceable, and that if there is a refrigerant leak I need to get the unit replaced.

@aponteluis, I think I'm in the same boat. The Air8 in my 2020 320BDL (first model year to use them) worked well for the first 1-2 years then stopped cooling after a summer of heavy use. All they could offer was to send me the new remote temp sensor - which I installed and of course made no difference. Washing their hands of a product that's non-serviceable with no alternative but replacement - at great cost no doubt - is, IMO, totally unacceptable but here we are. Curious to see if @techietab replies.

Really irks me when I see comments from Air8 users whose units "get cold enough to hang meat in the trailer."
