Looking for Repair Suggestions

Hello all,

While camping this weekend, I discovered an interesting leak in the grey tank outlet.  It appears to be a somewhat large pinhole leak at the top of the pipe.  You can see water being spewed out in the photo below.  This is taken looking down from the top of the front platform.

I'm not sure what would have caused this leak.  That pipe is relatively large diameter and is never flooded in winter so freezing is not likely.  Besides, what little liquid would be there in winter would be anti-freeze, not water.  A close look at the photo shows a wide discolored region.  It almost makes me think the joint is separating.  But that seems unlikely as I would expect this to be a glued joint.

At any rate, I have not poked and prodded the area yet.  Before starting, I thought I would see if there is any forum wisdom regarding this joint that might guide me on possible causes and best course of repair.

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Hard to tell from photo if leak is at joint or just upstream.  You could easily have an improperly made up connection or a stress crack.  This close to a fitting I doubt a split repair coupling would seal.  For under $40  you could buy a replacement slide gate valve (valterra brand, abs plastic),  stopless repair coupling, and pipe dope.  Amputate and replace.

    Well this is just interesting...

I crawled under it today and just started pushing/pulling/inspecting to verify the joint was intact (it is).  Upon a closer inspection though, I found what appears to be a perfectly drilled hole:

It is so perfectly round that this must have been there from the factory.  It is also interesting to me that the region that has the grayish hue to it is slightly roughed up.  It's almost as if this area were originally covered by something that has since fallen off (perhaps a split repair coupling like @Maxcamp mentioned?

So, my question to those forum members who have a similar vintage (2019) T@B with the single outlet like this is, would you take a look at yours and see if this area is covered by anything?

And if it turns out that the factory did use some kind of split repair coupling here, does anyone have a pointer to where I could find one?

I would just seal the hole with Butyl caulk or use a sheetmetal screw shortened by grinding so it does not project far inside.

    That sounds like a plan.

I  would use JB Weld to seal the hole. Just be sure to clean the area first.SincerelyTim
