Electrical Issue

in Dutchman and Vintage TaB Archives
The top fuse blows as soon as I turn on my power.  What do I do???

    Can you read what the torn part of the label says for that 20 amp fuse?  If it is the "battery circuit", that spot may need a 30 amp fuse.
    By "turning on the power" what exactly do you mean?  Plugging in the camper to shore power? 
    Do you know the state of charge of the battery?  If the battery is depleted, and you plug in the trailer, the surge of power to charge the battery may be taking out the fuse, especially if that 20 amp fuse should be a 30 amp fuse.

    That's likely the battery circuit because it says so on the PCB as well. If the battery is discharged or a LiFePo type it can easily exceed 20A. Try a 25A first because that's what the label says the max fuse size is based on wire size.

    As @Grumpy_G noted on the Dutchman TAB that fuse location (battery) should be 20A so don't increase beyond 25A . . . but I expect it will still fail/blow.

    Consider:
    1) taking battery to an auto-supply-store and have it tested.

    2) disconnect the battery Positive wire(s), connect shore power, does fuse blow?
         most Dutchman TAB have a Short-Stop Device that could have internally shorted to ground

    Old thread, but did you resolve the issue? From the picture it looks like the power converter is a replacement knockoff unit. A newer WFCO or better yet a Power Dynamics would be recommended.
