Things that made our recent trip a much nicer tow...

Some of these are going to be "well, duh" items, some might be of interest to other.
We just got back yesterday from a 500 mile round trip camping outing with our camper, and it was, arguably, the most RELAXED I've been towing our camper!  As I told the wife on the drive home, I think a couple things made it that way.

First up, while we had our ebikes on the tongue (Arvika bike carrier,) we counterbalanced them some with a storage tote on the bed with various camping supplies (probably ~40-50lbs of stuff) and a Blackstone 22" griddle on the floor in front of the bed (also about 40-50lbs)  Tongue weight when we left (empty tanks,) was 450lbs, and from looking at our rig from a distance from the side, we were nicely level and not "squatting" at the back of the tow vehicle.

Second, this might sound odd, I think the new tires on our tow vehicle ('22 Jeep Gladiator w/tow package,) helped.  We went from the stock Dueller H/Ts to Bridgestone KO/3s', which have a much higher load range (and I believe that also means stiffer sidewalls,) so everything felt a bit more "sure footed."

My driving, overall, wasn't any different than previous trips, get to 65mph and stay there in the right lane, a couple times I slowed down to 60mph, especially on the drive home when we encountered some fairly heavy rain.

So if you've got a light truck and it doesn't feel "solid" when towing, consider moving to "light truck" tire at your next tire change, it might help.
