Another Alde exterior vent screen (mud daubers, wasps, insects, bugs)

(title created for search purposes)

Today, I installed a "Mud Dauber Screen" for Truma and Alde covers (Model no. M-1800) made by JCJ Enterprises.

I added 5/16" OD clear vinyl tubing to the screen edge to protect the TAB320 siding:
  • Bought 1.5' of clear plumbing tube from my local ACE Hardware (they sell it in bulk, cut-to-size).
  • Cut (carefully) a lengthwise slit with a box cutter.
  • Install tubing on the screen edge.  Overlap the ends a little, mark where to make a cut, and carefully cut excess tubing

I didn't use the anchor spring pins that came with the screen for several reasons:
  • Going to remove screen when operating the Alde
  • Not going to keep screen on when towing (anchor pins don't look so sturdy)
  • Only using screen when parked and during mud dauber, wasp, lady bug season(s) - screen not needed in cold seasons
  • Clear vinyl tubing adheres closely to TAB siding

I tried the Camco WH200 Flying Insect Screen but found the fit too tight.

Note the 5/16" vinyl tubing cover the edge of the screen.  See pic below of close-up.

Note the 5/16" vinyl tubing placed over the edge of the screen cover.  Nicely fits to TAB320 side wall & protects wall from the metal edge on the cover.

M-1800 kit comes with two spring pins and installation tools (I didn't use either), along with the cover.  Note metal edge, which I covered with the 5/16" clear vinyl tubing.
