Alde Mixing Valve install with a part off Amazon
I sure learned a lot about plumbing these past 2 weeks. Finally tackled our lack of hot water and hot water out of the cold spigot. Tried cleaning our older model mixing valve (LK 550). I think the O rings were kaput and the valve needed new parts which are unavailable. I decided to try a mixing valve off of Amazon based on another users post from this group. Had to replace the fittings and learned that the warm and hot water hoses are Polyvinyl and the hot water is Pex. This is important, as I’ve learned because the fittings I bought which worked with Pex tubing won’t work with polyvinyl. Couldn’t find the right size crimp clamps (no…1/2” doesn’t work!). Finally saw a great video last night which explains a lot (link in comments). After one of our friends came by and helped us tighten everything down it finally works!!! Yay, super hot water ❤️❤️
