360 Storage Mod to gain 850 in3 from the Overhead Bins

[I completed this on the 360; it may well apply to other trailers.] The overhead bins that house the speakers have false bottoms. By removing the panel and enclosing the speaker in a smaller box, you gain at least 425 cubic inches of storage per side. The panel is screwed in with six #2 square heads. Next remove the stapled-on blocking that supports the panel by prying it off. Build a 5 sided box: 6.5" square and 1.75" tall. Make a notch for the speaker wire and screw the box down. Tape the excess wire for the speaker and reading light along the front panel to keep it out of the way. Fill space with stuff you never knew you needed.

(If you require the storage area to have a flat bottom, that can be accomplished by lowering the speakers and installing new speaker boxes below the bottom panel. This was my original plan, but I didn't mind how the box-on-top design created compartment like areas, and this is less destructive and easy to reverse. The only difficult part of a below cabinet design is making spacers to fill the area around the magnets when the speakers are lowered. My solution was a wooden doughnut made on the bandsaw. This method would yield a full 500 inches3 per side.)
