Hot water on shore power only

Hi. I can only get hot water while plugged into shore power. I can’t get hot water from battery only or gas using the same settings on my Alde 3020.

First posting to this forum.
thanks, Rob

The Alde doesn't work on battery only however it needs 12V to operate on gas. Grab the manual and go through the settings in the control panel it might just be configured wrong.

When you are running on propane, can you actually hear the Alde working? Is the exhaust fan running? Have you checked the "Service Menu" on your Alde to see if the Glycol and the Hot Water tank are actually heating? In theory, if you are getting hot water on shore power, you should be getting hot water on gas, but that would be assuming the gas is actually heating the unit. This is what the Service Menu looks like in a 3020. You can find this in the "Tools" menu. You can find the Glycol and Water temps there.

For diagnostic purposes I would unplug from the shore power. Make sure your battery is on and charged adequately. Make sure you have gas in the lp tank and that the tank valve is open. (You may want to run the stove for a few minutes to purge air from the lines if you have not run it in a while or run it at all). Turn on the Alde control panel. Under Energy, Make sure the LP gas is enabled as a power source. Go to the hot water menu and make sure it's set to ON. At this time you should hear a small noise, a fan from the Alde area, then a click and spark and the gas boiler should fire up to heat water. Assuming no system failures and that all your fuses are good etc etc this would be the normal operation mode.
