'23 Tab 400 Kitchen Sink Replacement

After a couple of years hating the sink in our 400, I decided to drop in a new sink and faucet. Had to move the hinges down on the cabinet doors, but it was fairly simple to handle.

@elbolillo Looks great! If you have them, more pics of the installation process would be nice. We have had a lot of questions on changing out the 400 sink and faucet.

Ken, Your sink looks fantastic!

I wish that I had made the jump to a real sink the first time I had an issue with the Dometic compact sink. I should have payed more attention to my wife when she said the Dometic sink color was never right, which is something to do with the stainless. I never cared for the glass top or cheap plastic faucet that was way to low to be useful.

My first issue was after a winter where the whole system was properly winterized and come spring I went to flush it and found water coming out from the cabinet base. The fault was at the inlet ports on the plastic faucet. The hose whip connectors are held in the plastic by a little pin. The plastic was cracked at the pin. My first guess was there was some residual water in that cavity (I ran this during winterizing until the antifreeze appeared) but more likely we must have had a flash freeze before I winterized.

I looked for a replacement faucet and was not going back to plastic. I came up with a foreign product made for a compact sink which is sold by Walmart:HOHOBLA Foldable RV Faucet

The build appears well made until you start to put it together and then also realize the sink cover will not close as built. I had to modify the escutcheon so that the faucet would mount lower and then still had to modify the plastic hinge fasteners to enable the lid to close flat.

A lot of work and it looked "great" but performed poorly. I wont get into the details but the whole sink had to go. Yes, after all that work I could see that I was in denial. This sink is a piece of junk and by that I mean in its function as a "Sink".

At this point I made the jump to a real sink and faucet. I have to space out my post a little since the details are long so I will be back in a few days to write about the sink upgrade.
