Window open or closed for cooktop use?

The owners manual, for using the cooktop, states "Always turn on the range hood (if equipped) exhaust fan and openvents when cooking. Gas cooking appliances need fresh air tooperate safely."

Well, there's no range hood, so what is the correct way?

When we've used the cooktop, we've opened the kitchen window all the way, had the screen up / privacy shade down (so nothing in the window), and ran the roof vent to pull air out of the camper, but a few questions came up in a recent discussion:

• Do we HAVE to open the kitchen window all the way?
• Can the screen (not the privacy shade) be left closed?

Exhaust from the propane stove is mostly steam. You are venting to get the moisture out of the trailer.

There are or may be small amounts of CO2 and CO as no combustion is complete.

We find that if the roof vent is running the venting is very adequate, as long as some window is open for make up air. The kitchen window is most effective, but the screen can definitely be shut on that one as well.

I am sure we all have different views on this but opening the window is not necessary in my experiences during cooking on the stove, the ceiling vent is fine.

On another note It does bother me that the glass lid leans up against the window shade or the screen when the lid is up. If this were some well engineered lid arrangement it would lift to become a backsplash. Being real, it is overall a nice stove for the money.

What a great little camper the TAB 400 is, and cooking inside means making breakfast in my PJ's.

It's the lid leaning on the screen that's why when we've used the cooktop, we've left the screen open. Might be "silly," but my concern would be heat from the cooktop warms / heats the glass top, which then melts / deforms / damages the screen.

our 320 melted the bug screen when using stove. We now make sure screens are retracted (both) and window slightly open

Depending on what I am cooking, I put a battery operated fan next to the cooktop and push the air out the window. This along with the ceiling fan works wonders.

I agree with the cooking of breakfast; particularly midsummer and midwinter. Our 320CS had enough air leaks, opening an additional window was not necessary. You can get better airflow with a window open.

Our 320 is pretty well air tight so the fan without a window cracked is just fighting itself. Crack the window even just a bit and the fan moves a lot of air. We really noticed that it wasn't doing anything when a friend vaped inside and the vapor simply went around in circles until we opened a window then it shot up toward the fan like a Genie in a bottle, lol.
