Latching freezer door?

The freezer door in our 2019 400 with the refrigerator below the stove keeps popping open while traveling. The door latches poorly to the drip tray that can slide in and out. The result is arriving at our destination with the ice trays out in the frig area partially melted.
I’m going to try really latching it to the drip tray with a large paper clip, then maybe wedge paper towels in to the side edges of the drip tray to keep it locked in place.
Has anyone come up with a better solution to this issue?
