Towing vehicle for tab 400

Is anyone towing a Tab 400 with a newer Tacoma with the in line 4 cylinder turbo? It can supposedly handle the trailer weight with plenty to spare. But the hitch receiver looks skimpy and it doesn’t come with a trailer brake. How does it perform?

Towing a 360 far and wide with the SR5 4th gen. Truck definitely has the power, good mpg, and it has a ton of towing features including integrated trailer brake controller, trans temp monitor, trailer blindspot monitor, light check etc. Not really sure what you mean about the integrated hitch receiver.

The receiver seems to be a four inch with a two inch insert welded in (Im guessing the four inch is used without the insert on the Tundra). The steel also looks pretty flimsy compared to my old Dodge—especially the chain hookup rings. The Tacoma does not have a trailer brake controller or a transmission temp indicator either. Putting in a brake controller is no big deal(there is a seven pin in place) but you would think Toyota would have had it standard.

Perhaps the base model SR (which also has leaf springs only) does not have those features, but the SR5 and up offers a towing PKG which absolutely does have integrated TBC, oil and trans temp, extended blind spot etc. 💯 % for real.
