Been to Gila National Forest?

We are contemplating traveling Truth or Consequences to Gila National Forest to Petrified Forest. It sounds beautiful but I'm not sure about pulling a T@B on these roads.  Would love to hear from anyone who has done this with a trailer.

It depends where you are going in the Gila.  I live just north of the Gila and have traveled a fair bit through it.  There are places where the road can be steep with switch backs, but all the main roads are good, so you shouldn't have any problems with your T@B. The dirt forest roads can be problematic if there has been recent rains.  If you are going from TorC (the south end), I would recommend stopping at City of Rocks State Park (south of Silver City).  Great campground in the rocks (if you don't need water and power), it also has less isolated powered RV sites.  Anyway, the area is great for playing around on the rocks.  The Gila Cliff Dwellings are neat and open, but the Catwalk trail is still closed due to flood damage.
