That useless bench in the front!

We are happy proud owners of a new T@B Max CS-S.   This model puts the kitchen galley outside in the back, which we like.   On the inside front where the galley would’ve been the Max came with a storage space under a bench seat.  But the bench seat was fairly useless unless you were less than four feet tall.  So we removed the cushion and added a second cabinet with a 44” X 23” counter on top.

The value of the extra storage is obvious. But the counter top is pure gold.  Because once you put the table down and set up the (queen) bed there are only a couple of small very narrow shelves. Good for storage of small items but that’s all.

We call our new area the” pantry”. In addition to the extra storage we now have a counter to put drinks, plates and other small items.  We even have space for a hot plate or small microwave for rainy evenings when we don’t want to go outside.    Hope you like the idea…we do.

Very nice modification.  While I would not say the bench is totally useless, some people do like them, I know some folk's dogs like that as a bed, it would not meet my purposes were I to have that model either.

Great job! We'd do the same if we had a CS.

Really nice added storage! If Shelby doesnt use the bench to sleep on, we may do something similar.

The Dutchmen Clamshells have it set up where the portapotty was in one side of the bench and open storage from the top on the other side of the bench.

However, having said that, I want to build a window height cabinet where the portapotty slides out in a drawer and have other drawers and have the top available to set things, possibly even a microwave, as the smallest microwave I found won't fit on the counter and allow the hatch to close.

Were you able to buy a cabinet that fit in that spot or did you build it? It's a great idea!
