Shakedown Weekend

ds@work and I finally got to take our T@B out for the first time.  We selected 2 HH sites near our home; Bernardo Winery & Falkner Winery.  All the systems worked wonderfully, we slept great, met some really nice people, drank great wine and woke up on Sunday to the sound of hot air balloons being filled and traveling overhead.  What a great first trip!

Bernardo Winery

Falkner Winery

What a treat!

Sandiegogal, ds@work, Congrats! Looks like a LOT of fun. Hot air balloons are always cool to watch. Where are these wineries located? Did you opt for a hot air balloon ride? We are so happy for you two to have had a successful first outing. All the planning really paid off for the two of you. Thanks for sharing, great pictures. Ready for the next one? ;)

@ericnliz- The Bernardo Winery is in Rancho Bernardo; a suburb of San Diego and about 30 min south of our house; Falkner Winery is in Temecula and about 45 north of our house. We thought the wineries would be a great place to start :)  No, we didn't do the balloon ride, didn't even realize that we were so close to a take-off spot until we heard them airing up!  We're off to San Clemente in 2 weeks ;)

@Cyclonic-thanks, it was!  Do you have a favorite HH?

@boo-agreed!  The advice here is wonderful!  We didn't have the TV (not tow vehicle :) ) installed b/c we always carry a laptop and watch movies, plus our phones always have coverage...cept in those remote areas.  Need to switch carries someday :)

We have stayed five nights at four different hosts thus far.  All were wineries, though one has a brewery (with terrible beer) and on does awesome cider and has beer on tap in their tasting room.

That one, Hauser Estates near Gettysburg, PA, is our favorite, so much so we joined their VIP club.  They are only 90 minutes away, so an easy drive up for an afternoon or evening out, which we did a couple of weeks ago.  You can find photos from the visits here, just click on any gallery that shows the T@B, those are the hosts we have stayed at.

There are a few other hosts very close to us that we have yet to stay at, so we still have some adventuring out to do.  We also have made hosts a big part of our summer vacation plans, with us hoping to stay at hosts in Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico, so really looking forward to it.

@Cyclonic ...Great pics!  If we ever get on your side of the US, we'll have to hit up a couple of these :)  We have 2 wineries planned out for a trip in July and an Alpaca Farm and veggie Farm in June; love these options :)
