     I have a TV antenna the I attach to a pole while camping.  It is always a guessing game where to point the antenna for best reception.  I found this app that works great and gives you exact directions on where to point you equipment.  See attached.  It also gives you specific transmitters so if you're looking for say PBS or CBS you know which direction is best. This one is for Mac IOS but I assume there is a similar one for micro soft.

I purchased an omni-directional as I was having the same issue and did not to spend time in orienting the antenna. Set-up is on a paint pole from Lowe's and I pull in enough channels.
