Window Shade/Screen Cords pulling out of Track - Cause and Fix?

Anyone have any input on how the cords in the window shade/screen work? Mine have managed to pull out making raising and lowering the front blind difficult. I would like to fix it myself rather than taking P@t's condo to the dealer (2 hour trip) unless somethnig is 'broken' and needs to be replaced. Thanks.
