Lagun Table Waterproof?

I was looking at a new T@B S and I really liked the Lagun table, and I liked the outside mount for it. I figured that the outside mount would be a good place to store it when the camper is configured for sleep.

But...do I need to worry about the table getting wet when it's mounted outside? What is the material that the table is made of?

You will need to protect the table from the elements. I think it is made of MDF, but don’t quote me😊 We have the white table like the Sofitel model. Not sure if they are made from the same base or not. Now if you made a teak table top, you can leave it uncovered.

I guess I can use bungee cords to wrap it with a small sheet of plastic. Where else can you store such a bulky thing?

@Trailpixie, we keep ours on the outside mount. I sewed a fabric table cloth and a vinyl cover, each with a casing and installed elastic cord to snug them in place. From a few steps away it looks like it is covered with a shiny resin. It has been enough to thoroughly protect the table. Storage elsewhere is relatively easy. The top fits nicely in the passenger side bench. It is also possible to store the support and table on the ledge next to the toilet while sleeping, and that still allows for bathroom use at night. I wouldn't leave it there during showers. Here's a pic showing the shiny vinyl covering. Good luck in whatever you decide.

If you are using the full S bed, can’t you put it on the floor under the bed slat area- between the side benches? In our CS, if ours is not mounted outside, we put it under the bed for the night.

@dragonsdofly, Denise, I made a heavy vinyl cover for ours - oil cloth-like. I like yours better.

Table storage: my table fits (barely) in the storage compartment under the bench on the passenger side. Tab 320s.

As @Sharon_is_SAM said, since I'm also traveling with two large dogs and sometimes getting into the side storage is difficult, I slow the leg and table top on the floor, under the fully made up bed.

Someone once posted a picture of the table after it got wet outside and it was coming apart.

I would get one of those small plastic folding tables and use the top from that. I'm in the process of purchasing a Lagun Table mount for outside and that is my plan.

I had one of those tables and the bottom isn't flat. There are channels and grooves. And I think that it's hollow inside. It might be possible to mount the Lagun hardware but there might be issues.
I think that I'd be more inclined to go to a place like TAP Plastics and have them cut a piece of polyethylene board to my specifications. They can do whatever size/shape you like. Last weekend the idea of having a table top in the shape of T@B popped into my head. Maybe not 100% practical but it would be very cute.

During one of our first camping trips in our T@B, we had it mounted outside, but forgot to bring it in one night when it rained. The next day there was a big puddle on the table, and I dried it off, but fully expected the wood inside to swell up and be ruined, but it never did. I was impressed by how tightly sealed the edging was around the waterproof top surface. I was thankful, and promised myself I wouldn't press my luck by letting that happen again. A waterproof cover of some sort would be a good idea if it might be left outside, but ours survived a pretty good test without any ill effects.

Coming in late on this topic but wanted to post so that others may consider the option we chose when replacing our table top with one that would be able to be left outside and not warp.
We are currently staying 3 months in the FL Keys, and we never bring the table inside. As soon as we realized that water would ruin the table, we purchased a custom cut table top using starboard as the material. This is a hard plastic material used primarily in boating. Tap Plastics out of CA will custom cut a piece and make rounded corners for you.
I simply measured the original table top, and ordered ours using the same dimensions (3/4" thick) and swapped out the old with the new and we are very happy with the result.
Cost was $97 with shipping and arrived in about a week.
Side note: THANK YOU EVERYONE for taking the time to post here on this forum. We are new to this, and have learned SOOOO much from everyone who posts from bedding to solar to trailering, etc.

The weight of the new table is slightly heavier than the old one. Not by much at all, really.

That material is known as Starboard. I like the idea of shaping it like a T@B. Would still have to keep some of the edges full so it could also be used as a bed slat when needed. Another words the top of the T@b to the bottom of the Tab would have to be the size of the width where the bed slats would go. Art
