First Night

Well, I attempted to spend my first night "camping" in the driveway. Got myself all set up with my cool weather gear as it was supposed to get down into the 30's. Two things prevented me from completing my mission. Well, actually only one.....the bloody hard cushion/mattress. After about 3 hours my neck and shoulders were so knotted up I had to cry "uncle" and go back to the house and take a couple of Advil and head to my "real bed." I also tried to turn on the furnace with just one lightening bolt on the Alde Controller 214, but I guess I missed doing something important. So didn't attempt anything further. All in all, it was great. Now I am trying to set up the TV with DISH and am up to my eyeballs in manuals, of which half don't seem to be talking about the correct model, etc that I have. Ouch - Everyone has a different firmness level. I find the cushions a little too soft but they don't get me knotted up. Many use a foam cover to get the soft/firmness right for them.
As far as the Alde/heat - were you on shore power? What did you have the other two sliders set at? Do you have the propane turned on?

Martha, you need to move at least two sliders to get the Alde to heat.

The far left selects how much (if any) electricity, the next one from the left selects whether you want to use propane (either alone or in conjunction with the electricity), and the right hand slider selects what you want to heat, either the Tab and the hot water, or just the hot water.

So you should have also selected the middle position on the right hand slider, the position that has a radiator symbol with the faucet symbol together, to turn on the heat in the Tab.

The design of the Alde boiler makes hot water always, whenever the Alde is on, but then it will additionally heat the Tab if the circulation pump is on (ie: the middle position of the right slider).

In fact, if you want to get your hot water replenished more quickly, switch it to hot water only (the lone faucet symbol). Then all the energy goes to heating the hot water.

Also, if you want the Alde to get heated up a little quicker overall, use shore power plus propane. The electricity is then the primary, and the propane acts as a little booster, until it's up to temperature, then the Alde switches itself to electricity only.
