Hi all,
I plan to replace the useless Jensen radio with a Raspberry PI (mini-computer).
The Rasp use a power supply of 5.1V / 3.0A DC output. How could I convert the 12V power use by the Jensen to a 5V output ?

There are quite a few step down converter options available. Here is one...presuming that if you are into the Raspberries that you are able to do a bit if technical tiptoeing through the tulips...https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Regulator-Waterproof-Converters-Smartphone/dp/B07H7X37T6/ref=asc_df_B07H7X37T6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241968535606&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1171690807194407542&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9005570&hvtargid=pla-600746528101&psc=1
Be certain not to connect the 12 vdc to the controller!....make sure your connections are stepped down to the 5vdc only.
Which Pi are you using?

You could just install a cigarette type plug and use a car charger to supply the power.2023 F-150 Powerboost hybrid

That's exactly want I need. Actually, I have 2 PI 3 install to all my TV in the house plus a server. I have an old PI 2 to test. My plan is to have a media center in place of the radio.tabiphile said:There are quite a few step down converter options available. Ok, dying to know: how do you use your PI's? For streaming? DVR? What would you use them for in the trailer?

My first idea was to get rid of the useless jensen radio. Like someone said on that forum, the only thing the Jensen do is to convert energy to blue light.
Actually, I have a Roku TV. It's the only TV a found able to read video directly from an usb stick. The problem is I have to strip and convert video to mkv format. I want to replace it with Kodi on the rasp.
Because we usually camp without electricity, the primary use will be music and postcast most of the time.
The other thing I want to explore is to use the rasp as a dhcp server and connect all the electronic on the same networth. -
I am using the LibreELEC install on a Pi zero W to run KODI and it works just fine.

I am working on making a streaming internet radio/video player using cheap car stereo with a 7" screen. It is still in the works and will show more as I work on it.

I am interested in Kodi setup/use. I already have a RPI 4 with 4GB RAM, 32 GB Micro SD (class10), Kodi case, and a WD 4 TB black disk. I have been "slow rolling" setup until the OS gets an update. How are you getting Internet for the Kodi in your Tab? Will a WIFI hotspot from your Smart Phone work? Or have you saved videos onto a USB drive? Also what is the resolution of the standard TV in the TAB ( 1080P or 720P)?I would like to follow your implementation for the TAB setup. Thanks in advance.Mike
