New TV--F150

We just bought a new F150 (new to us, 2016) and I'm wondering if we'll need to change anything with the hitch. We're going from a Toyota Highlander. Will we need to get some kind of adapter? Newbies, still learning...

Use a ball mount with the correct drop, and you should be good to go.

How do you figure out what is correct, and do you buy a new one, or is there an adapter? Remember, I'm a total newbie!
  • We have a F-150 for our TV also. I generally want the trailer to tow in the level position. I figure there is less drag. I  do have an adjustable ball which allows for quite a range of up/down.

I just looked at our hitch, and I do believe it's adjustable! I had no idea!

We have a 2016 F-150 crew cab 4x4 with FX4 and max towing package.  When I hook up our T@B 400 empty, which has a 400# tongue weight, it squats the back of the truck 1 1/4” inches.  I have a B&W adjustable hitch, so in its highest ball position with the adjustment pointing down, the trailer is just about level.  I was a bit surprised how much the truck squatted with just the empty trailer.  We will see how it behaves with a loaded trailer next weekend.

We tow with an F150 of similar specs as well.  It will drop a little given the tongue weight but you should be fine assuming you have adjusted the hitch drop so the trailer rides level.

Mine is a 2014 and I get similar with a T@B 320. It's likely the loaded trailer won't really make any difference unless your loading up the front of it with bricks or gold bars.

Put a load of wood in the bed and it'll really squat.  :)
