Why My 3-Way Refrigerator On 12v Doesn't Cool On The Road

Don't be scared off by the link title.  This is a good explanation on why your newer car won't run the T@B refrigerator on the road.  My 2003 Tacoma would make ice cubes in the T@B reefer while on the road.  My 2019 not so.  Newer cars have a "smart" alternator.

To clarify for those new to T@Bworld: this applies only to T@Bs equipped with a 3way fridge. Alternators can keep up with the 3aH draw of a 2way (electric only) fridge, especially if it’s prechilled.

If you fit a 12 v charger (12v dc in ) this eill boost the TV voltage and charge the tab battery so your fridge will work fine. I have a tab 400 2019 and a 2010 Toyota Tundra.

@GatorEgg. The ACOPOWER charger I fitted works great. I did 1600 miles over 3 days with my fridge on 12v. I camped two nights. Whenever I stopped, the batteries were always full. Without it, they would be 3/4 - half depleted.
