How to remove the fan from ceiling

Afternoon. My handy neighbor is going to install the speed control for us. I have the inner screws removed from fan meaning shroud to ceiling still in place. Seems like the fan is stuck in place around the lock mechanism. Can someone please provide the magic on how to remove the fan so I can get it to my neighbor? He also feels removing the three speed for the pwm is the easiest swap. Anyone simply do this instead of placing the pwm in the vacant corner? Thanks

Remember to first unlock the cover w the lock handle then remove the lock handle that is held in w a small Phillips screw. After removing the 5 Phillips screws the assembly should drop down. I think the hardest part in putting it back together is to get the lock handle screwed back onto the shaft. A good light helps. There was some discussion on the Tag forum ( I’m a prior Tag owner) that removing or bypassing the 3-speed switch doesn’t truly cut power to the fan. Even w the pwm controller turned off there was still some parasitic loss. I’m no electrician so I don’t know.Good luck! I did the pwm conversion on the Tag and loved it. That is soon to be a mod on our new 320.2021 320S BD

Thank you. I was able to open the outside cover so figured it was unlocked but will continue to tinker with it. I will mention that to my neighbor about the switch on and off because as you said, if the pwm knob is “off” it might really be so. Thank you

P.S. Closing the lid on top of the lock mechanism helps tremendously to hold the shaft down so you can get the screw started. Make sure to line up the flat on the shaft with the inside bevel on the lock knob or else it will just spun.2021 320S BD

Have you removed both the lid lock knob and the lid raise/lower knob? If those are removed it’s only the 5 Phillips that hold the fan body in. The screen does not need to be removed and the switches stay with the fan body.2021 320S BD
