Anyone Braved Road into Chaco Culture National Historic Park (Chaco Canyon)?

We would love to visit Chaco Canyon for a few days in September. Better yet would be sleeping inside T@B 400, not the REI tent. Very mixed information on the final 22 miles through Navajo Nation to park gate. NPS uses descriptions to ward you off. Yet folks with small and sturdy trailers have successfully made the trip. http://trailertraveler.net/is-it-possible-to-take-a-camper-on-the-road-to-chaco-canyon/
That article has a few important provisos. Call Ranger for current road conditions. Check weather report for days you will be in and back out. Take northern route so you can gas up at Nageezi (think I would also carry 5 gallons of "security" gas in a type II container). Drive slowly and smartly.
Has anyone made this trip in T@B 400 Boondock? 320? Know someone who made trip in other high clearance, smaller trailer? What was your experience?
Thank you!
