Dometic Thermostat cover causes AC control to misbehave

I attempted to put my AC thermostat cover back onto the thermostat but each time I did it made the control misbehave like scroll all the up or down on the temp setting or continuously cycle through the different modes on the unit. I attempted several times and could not get it to work. I can properly control the AC by pressing on the "tags" on the actual control where the cover would rest. Anybody else experience this?

I have some older remote controls that flip out when the "pads" under the cover lose a little resiliency and won't "spring back" after being pressed. Can't tell what those little black "pads" are made of, but they might need a little adjusting, if possible.

Can you slide the base unit up or down a bit, or tighten it down a little more? Might help.2019 T@B 400 (for sale)
