    Van Horn, TX has a beautiful historic hotel named El Capitan. I highly recommend it and its restaurant.

    Certainly not a cultural mecca but will always hold a special place in my heart for how the town put us and other stranded motorists up for the night in their community center during a snowstorm. That was long before my T@b so I otherwise would have spent the night in my tiny Honda Insight with two kids and two dogs. 😬
    It also has a decent, safe RV park for our overnight during our drives between Dallas and Phoenix. Not sad to have missed lift off, though!
