Replacing damage black water waste valve

On our recent trip back from Fort Wilderness/Disney World, I hit some road debris with my 2018 T@B 320S and didn't realize until I got home that the black water waste valve had been severely damaged and wouldn't work.  I contacted Nu Camp and they didn't carry the part. I was able to find a generic replacement on Amazon for under $20 and it only took 10 minutes to replace it. Here's a link in case yours gets damaged somehow.   Valterra T1003VPM Bladex Waste Valve with Metal Handle - 3"

Thank you @LittleBoyBlue. Yours is not the first damaged valve mentioned here and I’m certain it won’t be the last. Very helpful information.

My black tank valve on my 2017 cs-s would not close completely recently. I ordered a replacement valve. I took the old valve out and could see nothing wrong with it so I cleaned and lubed it and now it works as good as new. New valve is in the spare parts box. Took just a couple of minutes to do this.

@pak What kind of lube did you use?

I cannot recall but vasoline kind of sticks in my head.

I wouldn't use petroleum jelly (Vasoline).  That will deteriorate the rubber.  Use a synthetic grease, like Triflow, or a silicone spray.

I also had a piece of truck tire wipe off the black tank valve on my tab 400 2019 on the interstate. I only noticed the damage when blue water gushed onto the road. By the time I stopped, i had dumped my tank on the highway. Got exact replacement from RV company (x2). Took a few hours to replace having to force the pipe sections apart and not push out the seal on the way in. I did use vaseline sparingly. Hopefully it lasts. My delayed winter project is to box in the pipe and valves for safety and to help prevent freezing.

The link below is to a post I made some time ago about our experience with debris hitting our blackwater valve during an 8 week trip across North America on our move from Minnesota to Alaska in 2017. Still haven't figured out how to mount a guard to protect these things!
