Champion generator doesnt need Softstart

I turned on all the lights, left the fridge on electric, turned on the water pump, and set the AC to 72, its 95 outside, and my new Champion Duel Fuel 2500 is just humming along at 4300 rpms running on LPG. So i am returning my SoftStart to Amazon. I am very pleased. Great deal for $540 on Amazon that generator is.

My dealer told me soft start not needed also on a 400 and also said it voids warranty on the ac unit if you install one.

What elevation are you testing it at? I have a Westinghouse 2500 watt generator and it worked fine at my house (about 4500 ft) but used it at a campground that was at 5500 ft and it wouldn't work...spent the weekend in sweltering 100 degree weather. Ended up installing the soft start.

Im at 450 feet. I was planning on installing the Champion high elevation carberurator jets at higher elevation. I am surprised that yours worked at all at 4500. Surprised that only a thousand foot increase made that much difference.

Yeah, I was surprised too. Literally just a thousand feet and it couldn’t deal with the initial surge. Now it works at 7k feet

What model Champion 2500 do you have and how do you plug in your trailer to the generator? Do you use a 30-Amp ParaLINK Parallel Kit? Thanks.

Yes, just the 30 amp cable, nothing else. Dont use an extension cord. Mine is plenty long to get the generator away from the T@B.
