Help! Need short-term fix for leaking stargazer window

We’re at a campground 2000 miles from home in our 2023 400 Boondock.  There’s a heavy thunderstorm outside, and water is leaking through the top of the stargazer window.  We’ll take it into the dealer for a proper repair once we’re back home, but we’d really appreciate ideas for a short-term fix in the meantime.  Has anyone had to deal with a leak under similar circumstances?

How about a large piece of plastic from a roll taped over the entire window with the widest blue tape that you can find so it’s not a mess to clean up later?

A longshot, but our 2021 400 Stargazer was leaking in a heavy rain.  Never did before.  We just unlatched the window, extended it & relatched.... somehow that helped it reseal.

Your 2023 may have a different hinge design, but moving the whole window a little left or right has worked for some here on the forum to properly recenter things.  Good luck.  We always have tarps handy for such surprises 😮

The latch retainers (the ledges the latches cinch down to) are adjustable. They can be moved (with an appropriate square driver/bit) to make for a tighter fit, if your window is leaking at the seal.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions!  We were able to buy a large tarp to keep the camper covered until the rain stops. (@BridgerSunset, it hadn’t occurred to us that an oversize tarp should be part of our camper gear, but we won’t leave home without it again!)  When the weather clears, we’ll tape up the window and hope the temporary seal holds for the trip home.  This should be a warranty issue, so we’ll hold off on the other ideas for now & hope the dealer can fix it.

Find a car wash and reattach the windows over the rails if you have the proper tools on board.

A belated update on the stargazer window leak….

NuCamp’s warranty office was great - they got back to us promptly the next morning and put us in touch with Pete’s RV in Chesapeake, VA, for service.

I can’t say enough good things about the service department at Pete’s RV!  They got us in right away on an emergency basis.  We were only hoping for/expecting a temporary fix, but they took everything apart, identified the problem, and fixed it properly - all while we enjoyed a leisurely lunch at a very nice restaurant nearby.  Those folks were super.

Although all indications had been that the window itself was the problem, it turned out that the leak stemmed from our local dealer’s faulty installation of a backup camera.  Not covered by NuCamp’s warranty, of course.  We expect reimbursement from our local dealer of the $198 we paid Pete’s RV.
