How to Eliminate Extra Carriage Returns

I don't know if this is the right place for this question:

How does one eliminate the extra carriage returns (line spaces) in one's signature? Most of the forum members seem to have found a way to single-space in their signature. I have not. Where is the extra carriage return coming from and how do I eliminate it?
