Advice on ball mount for trailer hitch.

I have recently bought a new truck where the hitch receiver is much lower than my old one, which required a 3 inch drop for the ball mount.

The distance from the ground to the bottom of the truck receiver is 16 inches. The distance from the ground to the bottom of the ball receiver on my T@B 400 is 18.5 inches. In other words, somewhat higher than the truck. Allowing for the fact that the truck will sink a little when the weight of the trailer is applied, how much do you think the ball mount needs to be raised?
My best guess is I need a hitch that raises the ball height by about two or three inches. That will mean the T@B will tilt down slightly when being towed.

Any advice would appreciated.

Normally you measure from the top of the tow vehicle receiver hitch to the ground. If it’s a 2 inch receiver then your hitch height is 18 inches. Subtract the trailer hitch height from that. You need about a 1 inch rise to get a level trailer. (2 if you want to compensate for a drop from hitch weight.)
