Can I remove the sealant in the track for the roof rack?

Good morning All!

I have a 2021 320 Boondock, and I am trying to move the lower crossbar and feet to the lowest point in the track (I'm short).  Just above the rack tower, in the track, is a glob of silicone sealant.  Is this normal, or something the previous owner installed?  Can I romove it (it is not the sealant between the track and the roof or any of the screws)?  Thanks!

It's not on ours and I have no idea why someone would place sealant there

Cherokee, thanks for getting back to me!  I could not figure it out either.  The only thought I had was that they were filling that space so junk would not collect there.  I'm going to pull it out and watch for leaks!  BTW, there was no sign of water intrusion around that spot previously...

    Thanks again,
