Coolcat cabinet foil tape cracked

The foil tape that seals a seam behind the outside grille is cracked most of the way around the cabinet. Should I remove the grille, replace the tape and re-caulk the grille? Is the metal tape really critical? Photos attached

Same thing happened to mine and last year I had the dealer do just as you said: remove grill, retape with foil, replace and seal. It's been a year and it's still good.Debbie in Oregon

I just got done doing this same repair. Whatever tape they used it was not good. I ended up pulling the whole unit out and replacing all the tape on the inside as well. It had all deteriorated. I did not want to do it again so I painted duct sealant over all the tape on the inside. On the outside I used exterior rated 3m foil tape.2021 T@B 400 BD
