Installation of Lagun table mount by doorway by battery disconnect switch ?

Hello ! New member here. I just purchased a 2023 tab 320 which has a battery disconnect switch (photo top.) I’d like to install an extra Lagun table mount here. There is space between the switch and AC vent to do this (dotted line,) but little space on the backside for a backing board (photo bottom.) Simplest fix would be to move the disconnect switch, but the box housing this appears glued in. Has anyone dealt with this issue ?

Many thanks- Barry

Not sure this would work in your application, but in a similar situation I used 4 metal tubes to pass the screws through keeping the backer board from squeezing the wires. Just a thought.

You're only going to have four nuts on the backside, so you probably won't need to move the wires. Easy to move if you need to. Put big washers on the backside to minimize pull through in the wood.

I would temporarily remove the wire support screw on the backside, then drill the four holes to make sure don't drill into the wire.

Thanks for the feedback ! I can easily move the wires, and there’s enough slack to run them over a backing board. But the back board will still be only 1/2 inch or so wider than the mount. Not sure if this will provide enough lateral support. But large washers will help, and the idea of metal tubes may also work, perhaps to set back a wider backboard and so it can brace against the back of the switch box. All food for thought.

    Thanks again ! - Barry

I installed mine to the right of the disconnect switch. I pilot drilled 2 holes that went into the divider board and used 3" cabinet screws into the divider. The other two holes I put a 1.5" wood back plate for the screws to go into.

Hi Rydfree - Sorry, I’m not quite getting this, and would like to, since it sounds like you have a workable solution. “To the right” would be the side opposite of where I’ve drawn on the photo, i.e. to the driver (port) side of the switch ? And which is the “divider board ?” Thanks for any clarification - Barry

I would move the battery disconnect switch to under the AC vent if it will fit next to the wheel well. Then cover the existing hole with the Lagun Table Mount. This will give you room to put a larger back plate and move the table further into the cabin giving you more room to adjust the table swing arm.

I installed one there myself, using a smaller table top (the teak one available at the Lagun website.) I didn’t have a battery disconnect switch in that place. Mine was in the front utility box but I moved it inside to the sofa panel near the shower.

Since your battery disconnect switch is located there I assume your batteries are inside that panel under the cushion as mine are. The previous owner had installed a USB & 12v outlet plate where you have drawn so I mounted mine over to the right. If you lift the cushion and raise the panel to gain access to what's inside that area, there is a wood divider with a thin wood trim plate on top. I unscrewed that top trim plate and lined my left side bracket holes up with the divider panel (Blue dotted line) and the right side holes end up in an unobstructed area that I put a backplate for the screws to go into. Mine is a 2025 model so not sure if they are the same. I could take a pic this afternoon when I get home if it would help. In that position the stock table swings all the way around to the entry door and back around against the wall over the cushion. It just does clear the bathroom door to make the full arc.

yes ! I have the same divider, and your diagram makes the position clear. I will unscrew the the top and check it out, but there should be room for the backing plate. And it’s good to know that the tabletop will still clear the bathroom door in this position. Many thanks for the advice and clarification, and many thanks to eveyone for the other suggestions !

I have one in the exact place you are proposing. I cut my wood backing plate down to fit and don't have any problems at all. That side panel won't be as sturdy (although barely noticeable) as the original location, but it is sturdy enough. I put mine in and have never moved it again. I love having it in the new location. In my 2025 it does seem like I have a little more room between the vent and the disconnect switch though…

Thanks mx4789. It does appear they moved the switch a bit more to the right. Still, time for me to just decide and do it.
