How to move the top bar on Yakima rack?
Hi,
I want to relocate my spare tire to the back of my 2022 tab, on top of the Yakima rack. My TV (tow vehicle) is a Jeep Wrangler, so the tailgate doesn't fully open when the tab is hooked up.
When I wanted to move the Yakima rack bars, I noticed two problems:
1. the top bar moves only higher, because there is a head screw which is preventing the down movement. It looks like wrong hardware installation. Is it a common issue?
2. the bottom bar is stuck in place, even after it's unlocked. I tried to wiggle it up and down, but it doesn't move at all. Before I use a rubber hammer — am I doing something wrong?
Is it a problem with my tab? Is it something that can be changed?
I'd prefer to avoid unscrewing the hardware if there is another way of doing that.
PS. The tab 2022 also has "metal bars bumper". Would it be a good mounting point to relocate the tire if the Yakima rack is out of commission?

I just found another posts, where users discuss max ratings for the yakima rack anywhere from 75lbs, through 100lbs, to 150lbs.
I tried to find information in the manual, but I don't see anything.Tab 320s Boondock 2022 | Jeep JKU 2017

Some photos will really help. There are lots of posts on basic installs of the rack, but….there are several different designs of the "towers" holding the basket (if you have one) and the rails.

On my 2025 tab 320 you unlock the "towers" and open the plastic housing that covers them. Then there is an allen-head screw that secures them in place (one on each side of the tower). I moved my top bar down to about a foot above the bottom bar so I could strap a sewer hose holder to them. You can remove the towers and reinstall them on the other side of the screwhead that's blocking the travel along the rail. I had to do a lot of research on how to adjust these because it is something so simple (once you've done it before) that everyone would just "gloss over" the steps on how to actually loosen the towers. Hope this helps. PS: I had to use a flat-bladed screw driver and/or a knife to pry off the plastic housing on the towers. I was afraid I was going to damage something at first before understanding how it all worked. Good luck!
