Perplexing Tab 320 Toilet Leak issue
Greetings all! I have a perplexing and frustrating issue with a toilet leak and I am turning to the community for help.
This will prob be wordy because I will try to explain it the best I can in order to describe my situation.
This is my first ever RV…. I have a new to me 2021 Tab 320 Boondock edition. The toilet is a C403L. For the first 6 mo or so, I never used the toilet because I was intimidated by the whole dumping process. However, I eventually started using it for urine only. I noticed it wasn't holding water in the bowl, leaking into the cassette compartment, etc…. off to YouTube I go and determine I needed to replace the lip seal on the cassette…. Problem should have been resolved….. however, it wasn't!!
Here is my issue. Since I bought this used, I don't know what isn't correct with my set-up.
Main question…. I don't know what to call the part… . I have searched for DAYS and can't find a part number or description, so I will call it the "docking plate".
When you slide the cassette in, the trap door on the cassette is displaced by the mating white plastic docking plate on the underside of the bowl in the compartment…. (I will try to include pix if I can figure out how to do so)
My questions are: Is that docking plate supposed to detach from under the bowl? because mine does. It is LOOSLEY friction fit. Like just barely touch it, it falls off.
is it supposed to be glued in? IDK…. nothing looks broken
Is it supposed to have some sort of gasket or O-ring in the groove?
here is the weird part…. if I take the cassette out and attach the docking plate and fill that little "cup" with water, it doesn't leak. It's only when I put the cassette in that it leaks.
I have the feeling that somehow fluid is leaking around that plate.
this is the "docking plate".
if I fill this "cup" with water.. NO leaking….
I emailed Thetford and they were no help. I stopped by a local (non Tab dealer) RV place and the service guy said he's never seen that piece come off like mine does.
Any help would be appreciated!

No direct knowledge, My Guesses.
There should not be an Extra Part on the Tank when it is removed.
The PART is the 'main' unit (vs Tank unit) Bowl Flange that has become disconnected from the 'main' unit. Which would be a major defective/problem.
The available documents don't indicate how the Bowl Flange is attached to the 'main' unit.
You will need to investigate; can you reattach or must the full 'main' unit be replaced?'18 320 S, pitched axle, 3020HE; PNW based

while many folks like the dump-anywhere nature of a cassette

To be clear, that "docking plate" is not normally attached to the cassette when I remove it. I just put it on there to show what I was talking about….
it normally remains in the cassette compartment, albeit VERY loosely attached….
