Monument Valley advice?

With unusually nice weather here in the Southwest (60's/40's), we're taking the T@B to Monument Valley (3-1/2hr drive), Saturday-Monday. Staying at Goulding's. We've never been, and as I know many of you have...wondering if you have any tips. We'll have our dog, and will likely do a little hiking and that self-driving 17mile tour. Thanks in advance!

Love that place! Most people try to gather at the visitor center around sunset, because you get the best chance of seeng the iconic glowing Left and Right Mitten monuments. If you have time, you should check out Mystery Valley next door. You can only see it with a guide (we did the half day tour with Native Spirit, who were great), but it is amazing and you can get up close to the formations. Great cultural info too-- our guide was born there. You may already know that no alcohol of any kind is sold on in the Navaho Reservation, even in the hotels and restaurants. My poor wine drinking friends were beside themselves!
