Receiver Hitch

Hi all,
I need some expert advise, I'm planning to install receiver hitch at the back of my tab where the spare tire was originally placed, will it work? Thanks in advance.

Been various discussions about this...Depends on what you plan on using it for. Lots of up/down movement back there, kind of like a pendulum.

I had thought about that as well when I was ordering my new T@B but decided against it.  As PXLated said, a lot of posts on this subject and there is lots of movement in the back.  Add to that, a T@B has no shocks.  Verna also mentioned there is a risk of frame cracking by putting weight back there.  With the up and down movement, even a relatively small amount of weight (25, 50, 100 pounts) is going to be putting some significant stress on the frame.  In short - probably not a good idea for a T@B.

The factory does not recommend a receiver on the rear of a T@B. I would check with the warranty department at NuCampRV before investing in any cost for this modification.

Curious - Were you thinking a bike rack?

Adding additional weight that far behind the axel can develop some serious towing  characteristics. Which may require additional tongue weight to maintain the 10%-15% balance for proper towing. Which could put you over your tongue weight limit. Just some things to think about.

I have an ATV rack, just a carrier for portable waste tank and sewer hose

The owner claims to allow 4 people sit in chairs on top. The factory just shook their head when I shared the picture......this particular T@B is out of warranty, whether by "use by date" or how it is used ;)

    Verna,
Does the rack for outback can be installed on T@B Max S?

I saw it on Facebook in a photo from the Southwest. I sent the photo to the factory.

@Jltab, yes the Outback rack can be ordered on a T@B Max S. It can be installed aftermarket, but you have to be very, very careful at measuring to make sure the bolts are placed exactly where they need to go. There is also a weight limit on how much weight the rack can hold.

If you do a search in the upper right corner of this page for a Outback rack, you should be able to find the maximum weight that can be put on the rack.
