Madmike....in the wind my chef also has difficulty keeping stove lit. So we move inside and use a portable butane burner...ours is a Click 2 Cook but there are many brands/types. This solves lots of issues: too windy, too cold WHEN without shore power. Not sure I'd cook fish inside but coffee in morning or oatmeal is easy, and you might be able to more easily find an area more protected from wind with portable device for those fish. Not too expensive either and compact.
Good luck.

So, I was going to start another thread, but maybe I can get some help here.
On my trip, every time I tried to use the generator it would surge into overload and then shut down. It didn't matter if I had nothing on in the trailer. I thought the generator was faulty so I returned it. This is the one I had:

Last night, I went to break in and test the other generator:

Same issue so it wasn't the generator. What am I doing wrong? Everything works fine on regular AC but I get that surge issue on the generator.

@maddmike , are you using a surge protector with the generator? If so, could the problem be this: https://tab-rv.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/2437/honda-generator-neutral-bonding/p1

Not that I know of unless the PO hardwired one in. One thing I like about the A I-Power unit is that they do have an RV plug directly on it. The Ryobi unit only has a regular AC outlet and I was trying to run through the regular outlet. I wonder if there is a difference in the circuits. I will try to run through the RV plug and see if that makes a difference.ChrisandAlexis said:@maddmike , are you using a surge protector with the generator? So, I got home and plugged the RV into the RV specific connector on the generator instead of the regular AC connector. What do you know, that works. It seems like they took the floating ground into account for that outlet.
